The Buxton Hitmen secured their second league point of the season away at Mildenhall on Sunday.

The Hitmen who won all three trophies last season have struggled so far this year due to a changed team, mechanical gremlins and number one rider Ben Taylor sustaining an injury.

The team were back at full strength again at the southern track and are now ready to start getting the points in with their aim to reach the playoffs still to play for.

Sunday was another promising meeting as the Fen Tigers were never too far in front in the heat by heat scores so it was close right to the end and a fantastic maximum from Robert Branford was just what the team needed.

The final score of 47-43 was a win for the Fen Tigers but a league point for the Hitmen. They as yet still need to get a home win but the return leg at Buxton against the Mildenhall team is to be staged on Sunday.

The Team are also racing at Stoke at the weekend and manager Jack Lee says having two meeting back to back can help a team “racing two days on the trot keeps your momentum going and your head in race mode and will do the lads some good after having such a long break in fixtures, we are stealing a few points now we just need to get a home win in the bag and we will be back in the game”. Sunday’s meeting as usual starts at 3pm.
