Buxton’s difficult start to the National League season continued in East Anglia at the Norfolk Arena as only Veteran Number 1 Tony Atkin and skipper Liam Carr offered any real resistance to the rampant Young Stars.

There were however signs of improvement in the ranks as the Hitmen registered their first heat advantage of the season when Atkin on a tactical ride got the better of the home pairing of Hughes and Bailey in heat 11. Skipper Carr was fast gating all night and the pair of them scored 22 of the visitors points.

Ryan Blacklock but for a couple of mistakes could have returned better than his 4 points and Tom Woolley worked hard for his 3 point haul including a fighting second in heat 14.

Adam Extance looks to be improving with every meeting, however the first trip to Saddlebow Road for newcomers Stefan Farnaby and Sean Phillips proved a difficult one.

Buxton team manager Jayne Moss commented ‘ There is cause for optimism here you can see that the guys are improving with every ride. We have something to build on’

The Hitmen will have to be on top form as they welcome Coventry to Hi Edge in Knockout cup action this Sunday (3pm).
