Despite tricky track conditions caused by a pre-match rain Buxton turned in their best away return of the season in amassing 37 points in Sittingbourne. However the score tells only half the story.

Once more the visitors relied far too heavily on their top two with Skipper Liam Carr and veteran Tony Atkin scoring no less than 26 points between them.

Carr’s defeat in heat 4 proved to be his only one of the meeting as the Northumbrian then went through the card in his next 3 rides including a 6 point haul on a tactical ride in heat 6. He was backed up by a solid performance from Atkin who continues to enjoy the sport that he returned to at the start of this season.

As for the rest of the team the evening proved somewhat difficult, Ryan Blacklock returning from injury found life harder for his 2+1 return as did Tom Woolley and Adam Extance who both scored 3. A philosophical Extance commented after the meeting ‘We had a tough night tonight Liam and Tony were awesome. I struggled a bit and feel bad for letting the team down because I've proven I can score double figures. I will be back at Hi-Edge on Sunday to put it right’

As for Kent they look a good bet for the National League play-offs with both Ben Morley and Benji Compton returning double figures. They will be relishing the return fixture this Sunday in Derbyshire top solidify their position in the top four.

KENT 57: Ben Morley 17, Benji Compton 12, David Mason 9+3, Aaron Baseby 8+3, Danny Ayres 7+1, Jason Garrad 6+1, Simon Lambert R/R.

BUXTON 37: Liam Carr 17, Tony Atkin 9, Adam Extance 3, Tom Woolley 3, Ryan Blacklock 2+1, Stefan Franaby 2, Kelsey Dugard 1+1.
