Buxton’s Injury-hit season was compounded when they lost number one Oliver Greenwood in his second ride of this National League encounter.

Greenwood who had won first time out was in a collision with visiting rider James Shanes the accident resulted in him being withdrawn from the meeting and leaving Buxton with no alternative but to replace him with reserves for his remaining rides. Buxton already without both Steve Jones and they skipper Jade Mudgway were unfortunately no match for play-off chasing Kent.

Jason Pipe commented ‘Well where do I start? The bad luck is now getting worse! Firstly, though, I must say my thoughts are very much at the moment still with Jade Mudgway and now tonight with Ollie Greenwood and also not forgetting Stevie Jones. All 3 are now on the casualty list. Ollie banged his head in a first bend fall and is now out of action with concussion for 9 days. Stevie looks like he could be out for a little while yet and with Jade, we just don't know when he can return to action. I wish all 3 speedy recoveries. Also with the loss of form to Shelby Rutherford, our team has been hit really hard so far this season and as much as I don't like making changes, I know I'm going to have to make sure we bring this team back up to being a competitive side. I don't really want to be looking for excuses as to why this big defeat happened because Kent are a great side this season and I hon-estly think that we have just witnessed the league champions this evening!!’

Pipe was under no illusion on how difficult the match was beforehand
‘We were always going to be up against it tonight with us having to use r/r for jones, Chris Hay making his NL debut and we were missing Rutherford, Jones and Mudgway. He may have only scored in heat 2, but Chris Hay rode the track much better than I expected. Chris enjoyed his debut and will soon have our track weighed up. It was just a pity we had to put him in the team today against a strong opposition like Kent!

‘After today's defeat we really need to do something to strengthen up this team. The midnight oil is again burning and having travelled 2 and a half hours back to Middlesbrough, i can now get off my phone and look at some options for this team before I can even think about going to bed this eve-ning!! I'm currently in talks with a rider who would be a big boost to not only Buxton but also to the league also. If all goes to plan we hope to announce a new rider later in the week, subject to BSPA approval. Once again, best wishes to Ollie, Jade and Stevie and let's hope it’s not too bad. Special mention also to Ellis Perks. He did a great job coming in today as a guest for Jade Mudgway. Showed his liking for the track and he also praised the Buxton track as being the best track he's known. Also the Buxton track got a big thumbs-up from a couple of Kent riders!’

Buxton were further hit by an injury to Ryan Blacklock who had an off-day and picked-up a knee in-jury.
