HITMEN v BIRMINGHAM - PREVIEW

Friday October 19, 2018
BUXTON and Birmingham try once again to race their Travel Plus National League fixture at Hi-Edge Raceway on Sunday afternoon with the weather intervening on previous attempts to run the fixture, 3pm.

Buxton will be using rider replacement for the retired James Cockle while Richard Andrews who has been scoring well recently and performed well while previously guesting for the Hitmen comes in to replace the injured Connor Coles.

The injury hit Brummies’ have drafted in former Hitmen rider Max Clegg who recently romped to an 18-point maximum on his last visit, Tom Perry who is another Hi-Edge track specialist and another former Buxton rider in Paul Burnett. The West Midlands outfit will also use rider replacement for Tom Bacon who is also out injured while Leon Flint completes the top five with Sheldon Davies and Josh Embleton take the reserve berths.

Buxton team manager Joshua Moss said “Both teams have been hit by injuries and have been hit badly all season being honest with us having the likes of Connor Coles out through injury then James Cockle coming in and having problems and losing the likes of Corban Pavitt at reserve we’ve never really had a full team out properly since the start of the campaign and it is very frustrating but its all part of the sport. Birmingham equally have had similar problems as it shows with their side this weekend and they have done for a considerable amount of the season like us the difference being they have been able to get replacements in where we haven’t. Everyone within the sport knows there are the have clubs and have not clubs and it’s part and parcel of any sport and you just have to get on with things. We will once again go out and do our best against what is still a very strong Birmingham side and they have some very good guests in Max Clegg, Tom Perry and Paul Burnett knows how to ride this track well also, it will be tough but we will push hard and try and catch them out early on and hopefully we can get something out of the meeting.”
